What is the difference between A2 and regular cows’ milk? Is A2 cows’ milk better for my health?

There are two types of beta-casein protein: A1 and A2 which are similar except for one single amino acid out of the 207 amino acids in their structure. Regular cows’ milk contains both A1 and A2 beta-casein proteins whilst A2 cows’ milk is derived through a patented method from cows that express only A2 beta-casein protein. There is no conclusive evidence to date that A2 cows’ milk is better for health than regular cows’ milk.

Both types of milk provide an important source of calcium! The Australian Dietary Guidelines recommends the consumption of low fat milk for those >2 years old and full fat milk for those between 1-2 years old. Happy drinking :)
